The Journal Publications – Howard Schoor: From Collector to Creator

New local rising artist, Howard Schoor hit a home run at his introductory art show on June 22 at the Asbury Hotel. With 150-plus attendees, the event space was filled with friends, local artists, politicians, business owners and branded collectors who came to be part of his Trianglist art movement.

The night included a short presentation by Schoor about his journey from being a significant collector of art to a creator of art. He talked about viewing contemporary art in galleries and museums in the United States and Europe and saying, “I can do that.”

In 2016 at age 77, he began to paint and proved that he indeed “can do that.” His medium is acrylic paint, spackle paste and markers….

Asbury Park resident Howard Schoor lives by one edict – it is what it is.

An engineer turned entrepreneur, inventor, home builder, and bank owner, Schoor went on to become one of the area’s staunchest philanthropists and humanitarians.

And so it came as no surprise to those who know him well that the soon to be octogenarian has embarked on a new vocation; that of visual artist.

Artist in Residence – Parlor Gallery

July 24 through September 3, Howard Schoor is the Artist in Residence at Parlor Gallery in Asbury Park.

Parlor Gallery is a mainstay in New Jersey’s art community and features original work by some of the finest breakout and established, internationally collected artists. Opened in 2009 and located about an hour from both Manhattan and Philadelphia, Parlor Gallery curates exhibits typically only accessed by the public situated in populous urban environments. Parlor also showcases talent through pop-up exhibits and art fairs, like SCOPE Miami and New York City….

Howard Schoor is an artist who, at age 79, is busier than ever. He is a self-taught painter and mobile creator (done by his Art Assistant, Sue). Howard believes that he is the originator of the term Trianglist and the concept of Trianglism. He is fascinated by outsider art and the writings of author and historian Roger Cardinal. Howard’s “Trianglist” paintings are created using various mediums on canvas, especially acrylic paint, spackle-paste, and markers.

The chairman of the Dr. Theodore A. Atlas Foundation hosted the 21st annual Teddy Dinner on Thursday night and, one by one, those in attendance started to make their way into the Nicotra Ballroom at the Hilton Garden Inn.

After 25 years leading Schoor DePalma, he turned his attention to home construction and land development by way of SGS Communities, HMS Consulting, and Woodstone Companies before trying a hand in the world of finance in Freehold, NJ through the creation of Community Bank of New Jersey, serving as Director of Midlantic/Merchants National Bank and New Era Bank, on the Board of First Pioneer Farm Credit Association’s Customer Service Council, and on the Board of Directors of YHD and Foxtons North America in West Long Branch, NJ….
